On-line PLC and GlobalNet join forces in new Internet Deal and Share Swap
On-line PLC ((London) AIM:ONL ) and GlobalNet Financial (GLBN) today announced
an agreement to bring On-line's ground breaking stock market visualisation
tool to GlobalNet Financial's UK-Invest site and soon after, to its whole
family of world-wide financial websites. On-line PLC and GlobalNet Financial
have agreed a revenue sharing deal. In addition, the relationship between the
two companies has been cemented with a £250,000 mutual share swap.
On-line will be developing a unique version of its innovative visualisation
tool, 'code-named' The Edge, initially for GlobalNet Financial's UK-iNvest
site (the Freeserve PLC exclusive financial site). UK-iNvest.com has achieved
a 533% rate of growth in page views, increasing from 525,000 in May 1999 to
2.8 million in July, with an average user session length of about 23 minutes.
Michael Hodges, Managing Director of On-line PLC said, 'this is a significant
step that takes The Edge into the mainstream. We are very optimistic about the
prospect of this technology and we feel the deal validates our belief in the
considerable potential of this project.'
Stanley Hollander, co-CEO of GlobalNet Financial said, 'Our business strategy
is to leverage our wholly-owned highly trafficked websites. On-line PLC is
producing a unique and extremely powerful tool that gives us the kind of
feature that fits our international network perfectly.'
