Result of Annual General Meeting, Appointment of Non-Executive Director
OPG Power Ventures plc (AIM: OPG), the developer and operator of power plants in India, announces that at its eleventh Annual General Meeting of shareholders held today all of the resolutions proposed in the Notice of Meeting were duly passed.
On 9 October 2019, the Company announced certain board changes including the proposed appointment of Mr Narayanan Kumar as a Non-Executive Director. The Board is pleased to confirm that Mr Kumar was appointed to the Board with effect from today.
Mr Kumar is Vice Chairman of The Sanmar Group, a multinational group, headquartered in Chennai, India, with activities spanning chemical production, engineering and shipping. He serves on the boards of various public bodies and of a number of companies across various sectors including electronics, telecommunications, engineering, technology, management and finance. He is a former President of the Confederation of Indian Industry and is currently Chairman of the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is the Honorary Consul General of Greece in Chennai. Mr Kumar has a wide range of public interests in the areas of health, social welfare, sport and education, which include his role as President of Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust and Managing Trustee of The Indian Education Trust. He is also a member of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, India and is a former trustee of the Institute for Financial Management and Research.
Mr Kumar has a degree in Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai and is a fellow member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He is also a life member of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers.
