Origin Enterprises plc ('Origin' or the 'Company') has received notification on 31 March 2009 from W&R Barnett Ltd of an increase in its shareholding in the Company.  Following a purchase of 920,000 ordinary shares of €0.01 each in the capital of the Company on 30 March 2009, W&R Barnett Ltd is now the holder of 4,899,271 ordinary shares of €0.01 each in Origin.  This holding represents approximately 3.68% of the 133,015,572 shares currently in issue.
