           Steve Nicol Joins Ormonde Board as Chief Operating Officer



DUBLIN & LONDON: 16 April 2008 - Ormonde Mining plc ("Ormonde" or the "Company")
is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephen ("Steve") John Nicol to
Ormonde's Board as Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect.



Mr. Nicol is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years experience in the mining
industry, initially in operations and subsequently in mine evaluation and
development projects.  He has held production supervisory roles in various
underground and open pit mines in Australia and Europe, culminating in a two
year period as Managing Director of Sardinia Gold Mines SpA in Italy.  More
recently, Mr. Nicol has been operating as an independent consultant working on
gold and base metal mine evaluation and development projects in Romania, Greece,
Italy, Guinea, Kazakhstan, Canada and the Congo.



Mr. Nicol has an intimate knowledge of Ormonde's mining projects, having managed
the La Zarza Feasibility Study on behalf of Ormonde and more recently also taken
on the responsibilities of Project Manager for the evaluation and development of
the Company's Barruecopardo Tungsten Project.



Ormonde's Chairman, Mike Donoghue commented,

operational and development background will add further depth to the technical
experience already present at Board level. He will continue his project
management role for La Zarza and will now also take on the responsibility for
fast-tracking the evaluation and development of the Barruecopardo Tungsten
Project."





Save as set out below there are no items requiring disclosure in accordance with
Schedule 2 (g) iii-viii of the AIM Rules and the IEX Rules for Mr. Nicol.



Mr. Nicol, aged 44, has held the following directorships or partnerships in the

Mr. Nicol was a director of Tanex Resources PLC (incorporated in England and
Wales, company number 04297592) for a portion of the 12 months prior to this
company being placed into a Company Voluntary Arrangement in November 2003.  Mr.
Nicol resigned as director in March 2003.



At the time of appointment to the Board, Mr. Nicol holds 1 million share options
in the Company exercisable at a price of €0.109 at any time up to 14 April 2018.
