Oxford Instruments plc sells its
cathodoluminescence and accessories business
Oxford Instruments plc, the advanced instrumentation
company, announced today that it has sold its
cathodoluminescence and accessories business ('CL') based
in Oxford to Roper Industries Ltd ('Roper'), a subsidiary
of Roper Industries, Inc.
The final consideration is expected to exceed £2.0m in
cash, and is subject to the preparation of completion
accounts. In the year to 31 March 2000 CL made an
operating profit of £0.1m on turnover of £2.2m. The sale
involves the transfer of tangible net assets valued at
approximately £1.1m.
CL manufactures specialist products for electron
microscopy and is completely separate from Oxford
Instruments' core microanalysis business.
Oxford Instruments plc Chief Executive Andrew Mackintosh
said:
'The disposal of this business is consistent with our
recent reorganisation and will allow increased focus on
our core product lines. CL has some outstanding
technology and people and, under its new ownership, it
will be well placed to take advantage of opportunities in
its market place.'
