Oxford Gait Laboratory upgrade to Vicon's flagship T-Series system and Bonita Video

- One of Vicon's longest-standing customers has purchased its fifth Vicon system -

- This upgrade demonstrates the continued strength of Vicon's technology -

OMG plc, (LSE: OMG) ("OMG" or the "Group"), the technology group providing image understanding products for the entertainment, defence, life science and engineering industries, announces its Vicon division has upgraded one of its longest standing customers, Oxford Gait Lab, to a T-Series system with Bonita Video cameras.

The Oxford Gait Lab based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust) was one of the first Vicon customers, originally using the system for research purposes in the early '80s and going on to offer a gait analysis service from 1996.

The Oxford Gait Lab sees an average of around 400 patients a year and is currently setting up a new clinical service for upper limb motion analysis, which will analyse children with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy and Brachial Plexus Palsy. The Oxford Gait Lab also use their Vicon system for teaching and research purposes. As well as increased capture volume and improved data quality, the system upgrade will enable the new upper limb service to have a more efficient and flexible method for capturing data.

Dr Julie Stebbins, Clinical Scientist and Operational Lead for the service, said:

"Upgrading our system meant that we could capture more markers over a larger area, effectively increasing the length of our capture area. This means the patient isn't required to do as many trials, which is really important for patients with limitations in their walking. Not only that, the data quality from both T-Series and Bonita Video is improved compared to previous cameras."

Nick Bolton, CEO of OMG commented:

"The fact the Oxford Gait Lab has been a customer for 30 years is testimony to the quality of Vicon products which have strengthened year after year. Oxford Gait Lab upgrading to their fifth system further highlights the technological leadership and innovation of Vicon. We have a great working relationship with the team and look forward to seeing the successful launch of the new Upper Limb Clinic."
