Yotta DCL win major asset inventory contract with Nottinghamshire County Council
OMG plc, (LSE: OMG) ("OMG" or the "Group"), the technology group providing image understanding products for the entertainment, defence, life science and engineering industries, announces its Yotta DCL division, the leading highways surveyor, has won a major new contract with Nottinghamshire County Council. Yotta will be carrying out a comprehensive video survey of the entire road network during the course of the year, extracting a range of asset inventory items with its state-of-the-art video survey vehicles.
Video surveys capture street level images at normal traffic speeds. This imagery will support data currently held in the authority's Highway Asset Management System (HAMS). It will assist Nottinghamshire County Council in enhancing how assets are managed and provide valuable inventory data in areas where current data coverage needs to be improved. Detailed inventory datasets will be extracted from the images, to be geo-referenced before sending to Nottinghamshire CC for storing in its departmental HAMS.
Nick Smee, managing director at Yotta DCL said: "Understanding your asset inventory means you can better target your maintenance spend and schedule. The data we're delivering for Nottinghamshire County Council will help them to produce more cost effective long term maintenance plans and help reduce their day to day operational costs with a visual record of the network."
The contract also includes hosting image data collected via the annual SCANNER survey that Yotta DCL currently undertakes for the Council.
Mike Barnett, Highways Assets Manager at Nottinghamshire said, "Choosing Yotta DCL for our asset inventory contract tied in with existing survey contracts. It enables us to utilise data and images collected as part of the video asset survey with forward facing and pavement images collected as part of the SCANNER surveys in one platform. We have a great working relationship with the team at Yotta DCL, as they've been carrying out our SCANNER survey for 3 years now providing good quality consistent data. Previous trials of this survey methodology demonstrated a high level of accuracy giving us confidence when awarding a network wide survey."
