Oliver Crispin Consulting Ltd
£150,000
Oxford Technology 2 VCT has invested £150,000 in Oliver Crispin Consulting Ltd
(OCC) for 150,000 ordinary shares, representing about 13.5% of the equity.
Oxford Technology 2 VCT acted as lead investor for a total syndicated investment
of £300,000, with a commitment to invest a further £300,000 in the future.
OCC Ltd has been trading since 1997, supplying specialist engineering skills to
customers including Rolls Royce and Hewlett Packard. The company now wishes to
develop and exploit its patent protected design for a type of robotic arm known
as a 'redundant snake manipulator'. The key feature of the design is that the
snake 'follows its nose', unlike conventional robots. This means that it should
be able to enter a cavity and then 'snake' its way along a tortuous path to its
destination. Potential applications include remote bomb disposal and inspection
and servicing of the inside of jet engines 'on the wing'.
