Noting the FSA's recent statement in relation to the Disclosure and Transparency Rules and the granting of security over shares, the Chairman of Pacific Assets Trust plc ('the Company'), Mr David Nichol, advised the Company on 20 January 2009 that his beneficial interest of 40,000 Ordinary Shares, which was notified on 7 November 2008, is subject to a security arrangement.

Mr Nichol continues to have a non-beneficial interest as a trustee in 100,000 Ordinary Shares. These shares are not subject to a security arrangement.
