The Directors of The Paragon Group of Companies PLC announce that David A Hoare,
an independent non-executive director since 1993, has advised the Company of 
his intention to retire from the Board at the conclusion of the Annual General
Meeting on 10 February 2004, on account of length of service.

The Directors express their gratitude to Mr Hoare for his support and
significant contribution during the years of his involvement with the Group.
