Parity announces ASP internet billing alliance with edocs
Agreement with leading US e-billing software provider marks Parity's second
entry into
fast-growing ASP market
Parity Group plc, the e-business and software services group, today announces
that it will offer an on-line billing solution using BillDirect software from
edocs, a leading US provider of internet billing and customer management
software. The e-billing solution, which will be offered by the Group's Parity
Solutions subsidiary, will be available both as an in-house model and as a
hosted, web-based Application Service Provider ('ASP') model.
The service will initially target the utilities sector, where Parity is
particularly strong, and later it is intended to expand into the
telecommunications, insurance, credit card and retail markets. Industry
analysts predict that over 70% of the UK's largest billers will have
implemented e-billing solutions within 5 years.
Using the service, companies will be able to deliver personalised, interactive
bills, statements and other account transaction data to their customers
anytime, anywhere via the internet. As well as dramatically lowering the costs
of sending invoices and statements, BillDirect also reduces the costs of
customer care by encouraging customer self-service and self-provisioning. It
also provides companies with an opportunity to increase revenues through
cross-selling opportunities.
Commenting on the alliance, Philip Swinstead, Executive Chairman of Parity
Group plc, said, 'This is our second ASP initiative in the last month,
following the agreement with Infobank on e-procurement. As the market is
aware, Parity has been repositioning itself as a real end-to-end e-business
services company. A key element in this evolution has been the development of
ASP services and we are delighted to announce this new alliance on internet
billing systems'.
Keith Jennings, Managing Director, Parity Solutions, added, 'We chose edocs
because, in addition to its recent establishment of a European presence, it
represents the best e-billing product suite on the market today. We believe
that BillDirect satisfies the need for an open, scalable and easy-to-deploy
software suite that has the flexibility and functionality to enable us to
offer a one-stop-shop for internet billing. BillDirect offers a secure e-
billing capability to match even the most complex and demanding situations'.
Jeff Barnett, Director of International Operations for edocs said, 'Parity is
rapidly emerging as a premier e-business services company in the UK. We
believe that edocs' BillDirect offered through Parity's ASP model combines for
a powerful offering for companies that want to increase revenues and save
costs by leveraging the internet for the billing and statement processes'.
