Parity Solutions delivers new-ecommerce site to launch easypod.co.uk
First results of strategic review of boxclever's e-commerce systems
architecture
easyPOD, the new on-line electrical goods retailer backed by boxclever
Technology, has this week launched its new e-commerce website, easypod.co.uk,
following its completion by Parity Solutions ('Parity'), the e-business
solutions division of Parity Group plc. From specification to delivery, the
project has taken just 11 weeks.
Parity will continue to provide technical support for the site.
The project arose from a strategic review by Parity of boxclever's e-commerce
systems architecture. Included in this review was an assessment of the systems
integration challenges presented by boxclever's current business processes and
systems.
Using Parity's best-practice models, the consultancy team developed an
e-commerce business systems strategy and system architecture and assessed the
overall investment required by boxclever. The development of the B2C
easypod.co.uk website is the first project in a systems integration programme
that includes supply chain and B2B customer relationship solutions.
boxclever Technology was formed by the merger of Granada Technology Group and
Thorn in June 2000. This created a major high street retail business and the
largest electrical appliance service organisation in the UK
The site was designed and built in record time using Microsoft's new Commerce
Server 2000 and includes a real-time interface to back-end systems controlling
stock and installation bookings. These enable customers to see what is in
stock and choose delivery dates to suit themselves.
Commenting on the project, Keith Jennings, managing director of Parity
Solutions, said, 'We are delighted to be helping boxclever with this
innovative venture. It is yet another project that uses our end-to-end
e-business capability, from strategic consulting and business planning through
to implementation using a combination of our front-end web design and
development skills together with our systems integration expertise. It also
highlights the speed at which our e-commerce solutions team can complete
commercial applications for new business ventures'.
easypod.co.uk is unique among on-line retailers in offering the option of
payment on delivery for customers who do not wish to pay for their appliances
on-line. Extended warranty, delivery and installation are free, as is the
removal of old appliances. Brands available include Sony, Panasonic, Philips,
Sanyo, Hitachi and Whirlpool.
