Standard Life Assurance Company has advised the Company that it sold 1,000,000
ordinary shares of Standard Life European Private Equity Trust PLC, 0.6% of the
issued ordinary shares, on 23 June 2003.  This resulted in a decrease in its
interest in the company from 53.3% to 52.7% and which now amounts to a total of
83,815,718 shares.
