PayPoint welcomes the National Lottery Commission's decision to reject Camelot's
 proposal to offer Ancillary Activities
PayPoint plc ("PayPoint") welcomes the National Lottery Commission's
announcement this morning of its decision to reject Camelot's plan to offer
ancillary activities, including mobile top-ups, bill payments and other
services, through its National Lottery terminals.
Dominic Taylor, Chief Executive of PayPoint, said: "This will come as a huge
relief for the many good causes whose revenues would have been threatened by the
massive diversion of management time, energy and resources which Camelot's
proposed diversification would have caused. Â It's also good news for local shops
whose earnings and footfall would have been undermined by this proposal.
"It would be entirely wrong for Camelot to be allowed to exploit its position as
Lottery monopolist and spread its resources to offer unrelated commercial
services. Â We are pleased that the National Lottery Commission has accepted the
compelling arguments that the proposal was undesirable and contrary to the
public interest."
