                             ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING


                            THURSDAY 19TH APRIL 2007


John White, Group Chairman of Persimmon, will make the following comments at
today's AGM to be held at York Racecourse:

At the time of the announcement of our results for the year ended 31st December
2006, on 26th February 2007, we stated that the first few weeks' sales of 2007
had been encouraging.

Since then the market has remained stable and we have achieved sales in line
with the same period in 2006. As anticipated, average selling prices have moved
forward moderately, visitor levels to our developments remain good and
cancellation rates are at historically low levels. Total sales revenue for 2007
is currently at circa £1.8 billion, which is at a similar level to the record
sales we had achieved at the same date in 2006.

We continue to focus on opening new developments to ensure that sales volumes
are maintained at suitable levels throughout the summer months, which will
provide a strong forward sales position into the second half of the year.

We therefore remain confident of our prospects for 2007 and beyond.
