APPOINTMENT OF NEIL DAVIDSON AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Persimmon plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Davidson as a
Non-Executive director with effect from 19 January 2004.

Neil Davidson (53), recently became Chief Executive of Arla Foods UK Plc on the
merger of Express Dairies Plc and Arla Foods Plc (the UK subsidiary of Arla
amba, Europe's largest dairy farmers co-operative) in October 2003.

Before the merger he was Chief Executive of Express Dairies plc, a position he
held since its demerger from Northern Foods in 1998. Mr Davidson is currently a
non-executive director of Northern Recruitment Group plc.

Duncan Davidson, Chairman of Persimmon said, 'We are delighted to welcome Neil
to the Board. He has considerable experience and expertise which will benefit
Persimmon as we develop our business. '

No information is required to be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of
the Listing Rules. Neil Davidson is not related to any director of the Company.
