announcement released on 23 October 2000 at 16.07 under RNS No 9233S.

In the first paragraph the words 'as at 17 October 2000' were omitted. 

All other details remain unchanged.

Persimmon plc ('the company') announces that on Friday 20 October 2000 it
received a s.198 notice notifying that as at 17 October 2000 HSBC Investment
Bank plc, was interested in 16,475,981 ordinary shares representing 9.02% of
the ordinary issued share capital.

The company was further notified in the same letter that as at the close of
business on 18 October 2000, HSBC Investment Bank plc no longer held a
notifiable interest in Persimmon plc.
