that  Mr Hamish N Buchan (aged 56) has today been appointed a non-executive
director of the Company. He is also a director of Collective Assets Trust plc,
Aberforth Split Level Trust plc, The Fleming American Investment Trust plc,
Shires Income Trust plc and Standard Life European Private Equity Trust plc.
