PURCHASE OF OWN SECURITIES

On 8 July 2005 Personal Assets Trust plc bought 500 of its own Ordinary Shares
of £12.50 to be held in treasury at a price of £232.50 each.  There are 723,445
shares in issue and 17,600 shares held in treasury following this transaction.
