SCREEN PLC: £1.3m CONTRACT GAINS
Screen Plc ('Screen'), a leading provider of advanced security and
communication systems announces significant contract gains totalling £1.3
million from Italy's Carabinieri Police Force and two UK Fire Brigades.
Petards Mobile Intelligence ('PMI') has been awarded an initial contract to
supply over 200 ProVida 2000 in-car video surveillance systems to Italy's
Carabinieri. Petards Civil Systems ('PCS') has won two important contracts;
to supply in-vehicle mobile data system (MODAS) for 68 Lancashire Fire &
Rescue Service vehicles and its first contract from the States of Guernsey
Fire Brigade for the PCS Management Information System.
The ProVida in-car video system selected by the Italian Carabinieri is in use
by most UK Police forces and over 40 other countries. The system is featured
regularly on television shows such as 'Police Camera Action' and 'Motorway
Madness', displaying the video evidence capabilities of the system.
The MODAS mobile data systems from PCS will be fitted to all front-line
vehicles in the Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service. Using both local and remote
databases, MODAS gives each vehicle access to sophisticated geographic
information systems, chemical and biological hazard information as well as
secure messaging and reporting. The contract to supply a Management
Information System to the States of Guernsey Fire Brigade is PCS's first order
from this brigade, though similar fully integrated solutions have been
delivered to many of the UK's Fire Services. The system can be integrated with
the MODAS mobile data system as part of a complete emergency services command
& control solution.
The PMI contract provides the opportunity to bid for the supply of its mobile
data terminals (MDT) and automatic number plate recognition system (ANPR), as
well as installing Provida into further Italian Carabinieri police cars. In
addition there is the opportunity to sell other complementary products such as
Screen's Rapid Deployment wireless SWIFT cameras. These significant contracts
demonstrate Screen's International capabilities and the potential for proven
solutions that can meet the increasing demands of the security and emergency
services sectors.
Commenting on the contract, Owen Williams, Chairman of Screen said: 'Winning
these contracts, as anticipated, shows the wide demand for our solutions.
Screen has made significant investments in acquiring and further developing
the technologies that are now being called for by security and emergency
services across the world. Our leading position in these service sectors is
being strengthened almost daily as organisations and governments allocate
increased funding to improve security and emergency services.'
