Screen Plc: TECHNOLOGY AGREEMENT
Screen Plc ('Screen'), the leading provider of mobile data communication, and
command & control systems, announces a technology agreement between its
Petards Mobile Intelligence subsidiary ('Petards') and Citysync Ltd, the
Automated Number Plate Recognition ('ANPR') specialist, to provide exclusive
access to their technology.
The agreement allows exclusive use of the in-car ANPR software with Petards
existing mobile data and video surveillance systems allowing police to
recognise and scan number plates in under a fraction of a second. The mobile
unit can communicate with its own on-board database, as well as with a police
central computer to scan for 'wanted' number plates.
The integrated system will work together with Screen's in-car video
surveillance technology, ProVida, which provides footage for the UK weekly
television programme Police, Camera, Action.
Commenting, Richard Hill, Managing Director of Petards Mobile Intelligence
said:
'This technology agreement allows us to continue to move forward as leaders in
the mobile data technology for the emergency services worldwide. By combining
the Petards, ProVida and Citysync systems, we are able to offer cutting-edge
technology for Police forces in the UK and worldwide. In the UK alone, the
emergency services represent a £2 billion market. At present Screen services
47 Police Authorities in the UK, out of 49, including the Metropolitan Police
Force. Overseas, we are distributing and selling our products in 38
countries.'
