APPOINTMENT OF NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Petra is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Gadd-Claxton (aged 44)
to the board.  Mr Gladd-Claxton is currently Chief Operating Officer of Petra.

David is a mining engineer with more than 20 years experience in the mining
industry.  He has extensive experience in both underground and open-pit mining
in the gold, coal and diamond industries.  He worked for De Beers Consolidated
Mines and participated in the Venetia mine project and has developed expertise
in large underground diamond mines such as Finch, Kimberley and Koffiefontein.

Most recently he spent four and a half years as a Vice-President with
SouthernEra Resources (a Canadian Diamond and Platinum miner) and was
responsible for the building of both the Klipspringer and Marsfontein diamond
mines.  He was also part of the team that recently conducted the feasibility
study of the Camafuca kimberlite pipe in Angola.  David Gadd-Claxton is familiar
with the mining environments in southern Africa.

Commenting on this Adonis Pouroulis Petra's CEO said: 'David's experience in
building mining operations from scratch is invaluable to Petra as the company
has changed its focus from exploration only to both exploration and production.
David's experience in managing large projects and working with a diverse group
of people in the mining industry will benefit Petra as the company embarks on
its growth path.  The Directors of Petra welcome him onto the board'.

Gadd-Claxton (aged 44) in accordance with paragraph F of Schedule 2 of the AIM
Rules.
