HOLDING IN THE COMPANY

The Company was notified yesterday that on 16 September 2008, Pontoil Intertrade Ltd acquired 584,000 SOCO International plc ordinary shares of £0.20 each ('Shares').

Following this acquisition, which represents 0.78% of the total voting rights of the Company, Pontoil Intertrade Ltd holds 17,254,213 Shares, representing 23.02% of the current total voting rights of the Company.
