Pittards plc announces that it was notified today (21 March 2001) that Mourant
& Co Trustees Ltd, trustees of the Pittards Employee Share Ownership Trust,
acquired today 147,200 ordinary 25p shares in the Company at 63 pence per
share.

The main potential beneficiaries in the Trust are executives of the Company
awarded shares under a restricted share plan and long term incentive plan and
include JWW Pittard, JH Buckley, RH Hankey, SR Johnson and R Paisley, who are
directors of the Company. The Trust is now beneficially interested in 976,024
ordinary shares, representing approximately 4.48% of the Company's issued
share capital.
