('Playtech' or 'the Company')
Material Licence Contract Signed with Leading
Asian Gaming Company
Playtech (AIM: PTEC), the international designer, developer and licensor of
software for the online and land-based gaming industry, announces today that it
has signed a new licence contract with one of the largest Asia-facing online
gaming operators (the 'Licensee').
The company, which has a strong and diversified presence in the Asia-Pacific
region, is a significant addition to Playtech's licensee portfolio and reflects
the Company's continued success in the penetration of the Asia-Pacific region.
For reasons of confidentiality the Licensee cannot currently be named.
However, Playtech states that the contract is significant and material to the
future profitability of the Company. The contract is expected to become earnings
enhancing during the second quarter of 2008.
Playtech will provide the Licensee with software platforms for its casino, poker
and Asian peer-to-peer (P2P) games, which are being developed for the first time
by Playtech.
Playtech is contracted to develop further Asian P2P games for the Licensee.
Mor Weizer, Chief Executive of Playtech, commented:
'This is a significant new business win for Playtech and comes after lengthy
contract formalities with the Licensee. The scale of its operations and its
large and diverse base of clients across Asia make it a very valuable addition
to our growing portfolio. The additional tools and features that we have deve
loped for this operator will further strengthen Playtech's market leading
position in the vast Asia-Pacific market.
'This Licensee has deep-rooted experience and market reach and we foresee
additional benefits for Playtech, particularly for our new Asia-facing games
which we start rolling out over the next two quarters.'
