Porvair wins new three year aluminium contract
Porvair plc today announces that it has signed a three year global supply agreement with Alcoa Inc, the world's leading producer of primary aluminium. Under the terms of the Agreement, Porvair's subsidiary, Selee Corporation, will supply its patented Selee-CSX™ aluminium filter to Alcoa plants worldwide.
The Selee-CSX™ filter, introduced in 2008, is the first significant product innovation in this market for many years. It provides better levels of filtration, higher metal throughput and ergonomic benefits to operators. It has already captured over 90% of the North American market and has been adopted or is under trial across the world. It won the American Ceramic Society's Corporate Environmental Achievement award in 2009 for removing phosphates and ceramic fibres from the aluminium filtration process.
Commenting on the agreement, Ben Stocks, Chief Executive of Porvair plc, said:
"We are delighted to have again been chosen as a key supplier to Alcoa Inc, a position we have now held for over 10 years. Selee Corp is the market leader in aluminium filtration with a strong record of quality, innovation and customer service. The development team at Selee have done a great job in rolling out the product, and have found several minor product improvements in 2010 that will further enhance the product's worldwide potential. Selee coped well in extremely difficult trading conditions of 2009, but demand in 2010 has been on a steadily improving trend."
