PREMIER FOODS REASSURES ON BRANSTON

Further to our announcement this morning concerning the recall of two Branston
products, Premier Foods wishes to clarify that the core Branston pickle range,
including Branston Original, does not contain chilli powder and therefore is
free of Sudan 1.

Notes to editors:-

The core Branston products account for 95 % of the Branston range by sales. The
two products subject to recall, Branston Spicy Sweet Pickle and Branston Rich
and Fruity Sauce, account for just under 5% of the range with sales of £1m in
2004.
