AGM Statement

CSS Stellar PLC 17 May 2002 For immediate release Friday, 17 May 2002 CSS Stellar plc ('CSS Stellar' or 'the Group') Annual General Meeting Statement At the Annual General Meeting of CSS Stellar plc held today, Chief Executive Julian Jakobi made the following statement to shareholders: 'When we announced our 2001 results to the market on 7 March 2002, I reported that we had made an encouraging start to the year. I am pleased to say that this continues to be the case throughout the Group's operations. 'On 21 March 2002 we announced a 2 for 9 Placing and Open Offer raising £9.4 million (after expenses) for the Group, partly to fund future acquisitions. 'Since then, our Marketing Consultancy division has been bolstered by the acquisition of Craigie Taylor International for an initial consideration of £3.45 million. This Surrey based company will now form the European arm of GEM. In North America, Domino's Pizza and the drinks group Labatts became GEM clients. 'Our Sports Sponsorship division consulted on the deal which resulted in Frizzell being named as the new sponsors of the County Cricket Championship in England and Wales for the next four years. 'In Event Management and Event Services, Icon Display has won an important BBC Music Live contract in twenty-five UK cities for the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations. In addition, the acquisition of Backporch at the beginning of May has added to Icon's overall portfolio. 'The acquisition of PFD last November added substantially to our talent client base and we are actively pursuing opportunities which have arisen since we combined our operations. Integration has progressed significantly following the move of the Group's headquarters to Covent Garden and we now share premises and ideas far more effectively. 'In motor racing, Juan Pablo Montoya is currently the nearest challenger to Michael Schumacher in Formula 1 and Dario Franchitti is this season's leading Champ Car driver in the US. Our new entertainment client, Michael Ball, is starring in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which opened to great critical acclaim in London's West End during April and looks destined for a long run. 'While some elements of our industry continue to face challenges globally, I believe our depth of experience, our focus on core, profitable activities and our emphasis on direct marketing will continue to stand us in good stead. I remain confident of making good progress in 2002 and of achieving another satisfactory outcome for shareholders.' -ends- Enquiries: CSS Stellar plc 020 7078 1400 Julian Jakobi, Chief Executive Sean Kelly, Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive Weber Shandwick Square Mile 020 7950 2800 Ben Padovan or Sally Lewis This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock Exchange
