Premier Gold (AIM: PGR), the Central Asia-focused gold exploration and development company, announces that Colonel Bob Stewart DSO MP has informed the board of his decision to step down as Non-executive Chairman with immediate effect in order to allow him to focus on his parliamentary duties. The board wishes to place on record its appreciation for Colonel Stewart's efforts on the Company's behalf since his appointment in May 2012.
Christian Schaffalitzky, a non-executive director of the Company since November 2010, will hold the position of Interim Non-executive Chairman until such time as a suitable replacement has been identified. Mr Schaffalitzky is a senior metals exploration and development geologist with over 38 years' operational experience.
Mr Schaffalitzky commented: "Bob Stewart has been a tremendous support and guide for the Company over the two years of working with us." Colonel Stewart added: "It is with great regret that I have to leave the board due to my other commitments. I am very confident that Premier Gold is in good hands and I wish the Company every success in its minerals development strategy."
