    PROTEOME SCIENCES APPOINTS JAMES GREEN AS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Board of Proteome Sciences plc (Proteome Sciences), the AIM listed
proteomics and gene expression company, is pleased to announce that it has
appointed James Green as Business Development Director with immediate effect.


Mr. Green was most recently Commercial Director of PolyMASC Pharmaceuticals and
prior to that held senior marketing and commercial development positions in a
number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies over the past 30 years
including, Beecham Pharmaceuticals, The Wellcome Foundation and Protherics plc.
Whilst a senior role this is not a plc Board appointment.


This important appointment has been made to allow Proteome Sciences to respond
to the growing amount of partnering, licensing and commercialisation interest it
is receiving. This is a direct result of the highly specific and sensitive
protein markers that have been identified by the Company in major disease areas,
in particular, stroke, nvCJD, BSE, neurodegenerative, cancer, transplant
rejection, cardiovascular and diabetes/obesity.


Commenting on this appointment, Christopher Pearce, Chief Executive of Proteome
Sciences said:

On taking up his appointment, James Green added:
