PRUDENTIAL APPOINTS FINANCE DIRECTOR
Prudential plc has appointed Philip Broadley (39) as finance
director. He will join Prudential in May 2000. Philip is
currently a partner at Arthur Andersen where he is Chief
Operating Officer of the UK Financial Services Industry
assurance practice with responsibility for audit and risk
consulting services to the firm's insurance and banking clients.
He has wide-ranging experience with some of Europe's leading
financial institutions and has a particular expertise in
regulatory issues. He was one of the Arthur Andersen partners
who assisted the Bank of England's Board of Banking Supervision
investigation into the collapse of Barings. In Frankfurt he
helped to establish the Deutsche Terminboerse and he has worked
with major banks in Hungary and the Czech Republic in their
transition from government ownership in the early 1990s.
Philip also worked for a year in the US investigating
irregularities at the New York branch of the Daiwa Bank.

Philip Broadley graduated from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford
University in 1983 with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and
Economics.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales and a member of its Financial Services sub-
Committee.
Philip is married with two children. His interests include
skiing and driving his classic Jaguar.
