Reference price for scrip dividend alternative to 1999 final dividend

Prudential plc announces that the reference price for the fully paid extra
shares to be issued to shareholders who elected for the scrip alternative for
the 1999 final dividend, is 986 pence per share.  This price is calculated in
accordance with the terms of the circular to shareholders dated 17 April 2000.

Application will be made for the extra shares to be admitted to the Official
List.  It is expected that such listing will become effective and that dealing
in the extra shares will commence on 31 May 2000.
