PRUDENTIAL ANNOUNCES COST OF FLOOD DAMAGE
Prudential announced today that it estimates that its
exposure to insurance claims for damage caused by the storms
and flooding in October and November will be up to £30
million. This estimate is based on information available as
at 23 November.
Mike Quinton, Director Prudential General Insurance, said:
' Prudential is one of the leading home insurance providers
with around 1.7 million customers and general insurance is
an important part of the UK business. Gross written
premiums for the nine months up to 30 September 2000 were
£251 million, up 4% on the previous year.
'We are currently dealing with claims from thousands of
customers and are committed to resolving these as quickly as
possible. Our claims task force has been working around the
clock to ensure that our customers are getting the best
possible service.'
