                    Paterson Zochonis plc Board appointment

Paterson Zochonis plc is pleased to announce that it has appointed David
Whitewood as Head of Group Sourcing and that he will join the PLC Board on 1st
June 2002. David will continue in his current role of Managing Director, Cussons
(UK) Limited until his successor has been appointed.

David has been with the Company since May 2000 and prior to joining Cussons was
Managing Director Group Operations at London International.

There is no further information that is required to be disclosed in accordance
with Paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules.
