QinetiQ Board Change: Non-Executive Directorate Appointment
QinetiQ Group plc, an international provider of technology-based services and solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent KCB, CBE, ADC as an independent non-executive director to the QinetiQ Board with effect from 10 April 2010.
Admiral Burnell-Nugent commanded the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible and three other ships and submarines during a 37 year career in the Royal Navy which culminated in his appointment as Commander-in-Chief Fleet. In between operational duties he served in several appointments in the Ministry of Defence and gained cross-Whitehall experience while on secondment to HM Treasury.
Commenting on the announcement Mark Elliott, Chairman of QinetiQ said: "I am very pleased Sir James has agreed to join the QinetiQ Board. He is a high calibre individual with considerable leadership skills who brings a thorough understanding of the operational challenges currently facing the defence sector. He adds a further level of knowledge, expertise and breadth to the Board and I look forward to working with him."
There are no other matters requiring disclosure under LR 9.6.13.

Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent KCB, CBE, ADC joined the Royal Navy in 1971 after reading mathematics at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He commanded HM Submarines Conqueror and Olympus, the frigate HMS Brilliant and the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible. On promotion to Vice Admiral, he took up the post of Second Sea Lord and Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command. In 2005 he was promoted to Admiral and appointed Commander-in-Chief Fleet of the Royal Navy, retiring in 2007.
Admiral Burnell-Nugent was awarded the CBE in 1999 and KCB in 2004.
