Quintain Estates & Development PLC announces today the acquisition of shares
by the Quintain Estates and Development PLC Deferred Bonus Scheme.

The Trust includes, amongst its beneficiaries, employees and executive
directors of Quintain Estates and Development PLC and its subsidiary
companies.

The Trustees acquired 975 Ordinary Shares of 25p each on 31 July 2001 at a
price of 196p per share.
