                      RETIREMENT OF NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Quintain announces that John Evans, non executive director has today retired
from the Board having completed his nine year term.


Mr Evans was appointed to the Board in 1992 at Quintain's formation and was
Chairman until March 1996. He was a member of the Group's Audit, Remuneration,
Nominations and Donations Committees.


Commenting, Nigel Ellis, Chairman of Quintain said:

'John has played an important role in the development of Quintain. We are all
