Quintain Estates and Development Plc announces today the acquisition of shares
by the Quintain Estates and Development Plc Deferred Bonus Plan.

The Trust includes amongst its beneficiaries, employees and executive directors
of Quintain Estates and Development Plc and its subsidiary companies.

The Trustees acquired 41,914 Ordinary Shares of 25p each on 23rd December 1999
at a price of 178p per share.
