                            Quintain sells Theatres
                                       
Quintain Estates and Development PLC announces the completion of the sale of
the seven theatres and associated properties to (inter alia) Ambassador
Theatre Group Limited. Conditional put and call options were exchanged on 11th
February 2000. The theatres were acquired as part of the acquisition of
Chesterfield Properties PLC. The book value at the time of the acquisition was
£16.1m.  The proceeds of sale are £18m.
