APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR
The Rank Group Plc announces the appointment of Ian Dyson as
Finance Director and as a Director of the Company. Mr Dyson,
currently Group Financial Controller of Hilton Group plc
(formerly Ladbroke Group PLC) and Finance Director of that
company's hotel division, is expected to join Rank no later than
1 October 1999.
Mr Dyson will assume the responsibilities of Rank's current
Finance Director, Nigel Turnbull and current Commercial
Director, Douglas Yates. Nigel Turnbull and Douglas Yates will
resign as Directors and leave the Company at the end of this
year.
Mike Smith, Rank's Chief Executive, said:

calibre to the Group. His background and experience are
particularly relevant to Rank's businesses.

IAN DYSON
Ian Dyson, aged 37, qualified as a Chartered Accountant with
Arthur Andersen in 1986. After short periods working for
Kleinwort Benson Securities and The BOC Group, he returned to
Arthur Andersen in January 1989 as a manager in the Operational
Consulting Division. He later transferred to the Hospitality
and Leisure Industry Group and was promoted to partner in 1994.
In September 1994, he joined Forte plc as a Finance Director of
the newly acquired Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts. Meridien was
Forte's largest business unit with sales of £350 million and
operating profit of £60 million.
In October 1996, he joined Ladbroke Group PLC in the dual role
of Group Financial Controller and Finance Director of Hilton
International. At Ladbroke, he was responsible for a finance
team of 21 and played a lead role in group corporate finance
activity including the acquisition of Stakis plc and the
acquisition and disposal of Coral.
