- Notification of Major Interest in Shares

On 5 October 2007, the Company received notification from Schroder Investment
Management Limited (under the obligations imposed by Section DTR5 of the FSA's
Disclosure & Transparency Rules) that, as at 4 October 2007, Schroders Plc had a
notifiable interest in the voting rights attached to 19,414,982 Ordinary 13 8/9p
shares of The Rank Group Plc representing 4.97% of the total voting rights in
The Rank Group Plc.


These shares are held in portfolios managed by Schroder Investment Management
Limited (and related companies) on a discretionary basis for clients under
investment management agreements.
