- Notification of Major Interest in Shares

On 17 January 2007, the Company received notification from Legal & General
Investment Management Limited (on behalf of Legal & General Group plc and its
subsidiaries), under the obligations imposed by Sections 198 to 202 of the
Companies Act 1985 that, as at 16 January 2007, Legal & General Group plc had a
notifiable interest in 19,637,646 Ordinary 10p shares of The Rank Group Plc
(registered, or to be registered in the names set out in the Schedule below)
representing 3.62% of the issued share capital of The Rank Group Plc.
