- Notification of Major Interest in Shares

Hong Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad

On 24 January 2008, the Company received notification, under the obligations
imposed by Section DTR5 of the FSA's Disclosure & Transparency Rules, from Hong
Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad ('Hong Leong Co.') that, as at 22 January 2008,
Hong Leong Co. had a notifiable interest in the voting rights attached to
15,957,851 Ordinary 13 8/9p shares representing 4.09% of the total voting rights
in The Rank Group Plc.

Note:

The voting rights are held by Asia Fountain Investment Company Limited ('AFI').
AFI is a controlled undertaking of Guoco Equity Assets Limited, which is a
controlled undertaking of Guoco Group Limited ('GGL'). GGL is a controlled
undertaking of GuoLine Overseas Limited which is a controlled undertaking of
GuoLine Capital Assets Limited ('GCAL'). GCAL is a controlled undertaking of
Hong Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad.
