Deliveries worth about EUR 20 million from Ruuk...
Rautaruukki Corporation Stock exchange release 19 October 2009 at 9am
Ruukki has signed a contract with Peab for the manufacture and
installation of steel structures and roofing elements for a new
multi-purpose stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. The order is worth a
total of about EUR 20 million.
The Swedish National Arena (Swedbank Arena) will be one of the
biggest stadiums featuring a sliding roof in Northern Europe. When
completed in 2012, the arena will be able to hold 50,000 spectators
for football matches and 65,000 for concerts and other events.
"Ruukki has both the expertise and resources to carry out a project
as demanding as the Swedbank Arena. Ruukki has excellent references
and we have worked together earlier in, for example, the Swedbank
Stadion project in Malmö", says Nils Yttergård, Purchasing Manager
for Arenastaden, Peab Sverige.
"This major contract is testimony to Ruukki's expertise in demanding
projects. Ruukki has a strong foothold in the Nordic construction
market as a steel constructor who creates added value for customers
with its competence in design and installation. We have sound
experience of project deliveries for large multi-purpose complexes
and sports arenas", says Sami Eronen, SVP, Infrastructure and
Northern Europe, Ruukki Construction.
For the customer, Ruukki's solution reduces construction risks and
improves safety at the construction site. The design has been
specially engineered to minimise welding at the site. The components
will be manufactured mainly at Ruukki's units in Ylivieska and
Peräseinäjoki, Finland, and bolted together at the construction
stage. Ruukki's deliveries to the working site will begin in June
2010 and are estimated to continue until August 2011.
In recent few years, Ruukki has been involved in the design,
installation and delivery of structures for a number of arenas in
Sweden, Russia and the Baltic states. The latest projects include
Malmö Arena and the Swedbank Stadion in Malmö, Sweden.
