Press release 3 November 2008 Rautaruukki has created a new concept for the construction of industrial premises to shorten construction time and rationalise construction projects. A pilot project saw the construction of laundry premises in Estonia for textile services company Lindström. Rautaruukki was responsible for delivering and installing the steel frame, roof structures and façades. With Ruukki's construction model, Lindström can, in future, use the existing construction drawings and even structures to enlarge its premises. The solution means the existing façades, doors and windows can be reused in the next construction phase. The model also enables the faster construction of similar industrial buildings, irrespective of location. This in turn reduces construction costs. "The project was very successful and resulted in not only the creation of a new construction concept, but also the development of a new, easier method for steel frame installation. Ruukki provided us with well-defined instructions for project specifications and coordinated contact with other contractors," says Pekka Tynjälä, project manager from Lindström. The new laundry building, over 1700 square metres, was built to enhance Lindström's customer service capacity in Estonia. Lindström has operations in 18 countries.
