Press Release 13 January 2009
Rautaruukki is to focus parts processing on the service centres in
Raahe and Seinäjoki, and will close the steel service centre in
Tampere by the end of June this year. Ruukki Metals' Tampere unit has
held employer-employee negotiations related to closure of the unit.
These negotiations ended on 12 January 2009 and closure of the
Tampere steel service centre will result in the loss of 63 jobs.
Focusing parts processing and closure of the Tampere steel service
centre are part of Ruukki's actions to further improve production and
cost-efficiency under the Boost programme launched in October 2008.
