                           Sale of Ethnic Media Group



Trinity Mirror plc ('Trinity Mirror'), the UK's largest newspaper publisher,
announces that it has sold Ethnic Media Group Limited ('EMG') to a management
buy-out for £10.25 million in cash, with £1 million deferred for two years.



The EMG portfolio comprises five national Asian and African-Caribbean titles,
including Eastern Eye and New Nation.



Trinity Mirror acquired EMG as part of its Southnews acquisition in October
2000.
