TRINITY MIRROR PLC ('TRINITY MIRROR')
Trinity Mirror notes the recent announcement by Gannett U.K.
Limited ('Gannett'), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gannett Co.,
Inc., relating to its offer for News Communications & Media
plc ('Newscom'). After detailed consideration of its
position, Trinity Mirror decided not to put a formal offer to
the Board of Newscom, following clearance of the potential
transfer of the newspaper titles and related assets of Newscom
to Trinity Mirror by the Secretary of State for Trade and
Industry. Accordingly, Trinity Mirror confirms that it has no
further intention of making an offer for Newscom.
