Board appointment

The Real Good Food Company plc ("the Group" or "RGFC") is a diversified food group, which owns Napier Brown (Europe's biggest non-refining sugar distributor) as well as Renshaw & R&W Scott (bakery ingredients), Garrett Ingredients (dairy ingredients) and Haydens Bakery (patisserie and desserts).

The Board of RGFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacques d'Unienville, aged 43, Chief Executive Officer of Omnicane Limited ("Omnicane"), as a non-executive Director of the Group, with immediate effect. This follows Omnicane's purchase of a strategic 20% stake in RGFC earlier this year and the announcement of a co-operation agreement between the two parties on 18 June 2012.    

Omnicane is the biggest sugar producer in Mauritius and one of the largest ACP* producers of refined white sugar. It is also involved in other agricultural, energy, property development and logistics businesses in Mauritius, and has developed a world class, low cost model of cane sugar refining combined with electricity co-generation.

Mr d'Unienville has considerable experience in the sugar and related industries, with 17 years' work experience in France, the Seychelles and Mauritius. His expertise lies in the strategic development of new projects in sugar production and refining, independent power production, waste and environment management and renewable energy projects. 

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Omnicane and the Chairperson of Omnicane Thermal Energy Operations (La Baraque) Limited and Omnicane Thermal Energy Operations (St Aubin) Limited. He has served as President of the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate in 2011/2012 and as President of the Mauritius Sugar Producers' Association in 2005/2006 and 2009/2010. 

Under the terms of the co-operation agreement, RGFC and Omnicane intend to explore joint ventures in added-value sugar production, and the development of export markets for other RGFC products, particularly on the African continent. Through its Napier Brown subsidiary, RGFC can offer routes to market for Omnicane within the EU, where there is demand for competitively priced cane imports.
