Reckitt Benckiser to acquire Indonesian Pest Control Business
Reckitt Benckiser, the world's number one household cleaning company,
announced today that it has agreed, subject to contract, to acquire the
companies comprising the Mosquito Coil Group (MCG) in Indonesia from
P.T.Holdiko Perkasa. MCG is the market leader in the growing pest control
market in Indonesia with its Tiga Roda brand. MCG had net revenues in 1999 of
£26m.
The agreement is still subject to contract, regulatory approval and
satisfaction of a number of outstanding conditions. The purchase consideration
will be IDR 686 billion (approximately £52m at today's exchange rate)
including the assumption of local debt.
Commenting today, Bart Becht, Chief Executive Officer said
'The Mosquito Coil Group provides Reckitt Benckiser with a substantial and
profitable business in Indonesia, the third most populous country in Asia. It
will give us a strong platform for entry into this key market while
substantially strengthening our worldwide presence in pest control, a key
company category.'
